WESTMINSTER, Colo., USA (November 3, 2011) – Surefire Medical, Inc., a Colorado-based medical device company, has successfully implemented a limited launch of its novel infusion system in several key hospitals in the United States.

The company received 510(k) Clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in June 2011, and initiated its limited launch on August 16, 2011 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colo. To date the Surefire Infusion System has been used in 62 procedures in 18 high-volume hospitals to treat primary and secondary liver cancer.

“By launching our product in these key hospitals, Surefire Medical is delivering on our vision to introduce a unique infusion system with a differentiated, expandable tip that is designed to reduce reflux into non-targeted vessels, increase infusion efficiency and ultimately enable the physicians to improve patient outcomes,” said Jim Chomas, co-founder and CEO of Surefire Medical. “We’re pleased to offer a system designed to streamline the time and cost of infusion procedures.”

The Surefire team is working with additional physicians and hospitals throughout the U.S. to continue implementing the infusion system in interventional radiology procedures.

The company has raised $6.1M with a Series A Financing that closed in July 2011 and employs about 20 employees, with two primary locations in Westminster, Colo. and Miami, Fla.
